Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Must be able to key 40 wpm.
• Knowledge of patient registration, insurance, and hospital billing preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of third party reimbursement preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and customer services skills required.

Responsibilities

• Registers or pre-registers all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization for services that require authorization, pre-certification, or referral.
• Coordinates with patients and scheduling departments to reschedule procedures until authorization or payment can be arranged; requests upfront deposits when needed.
• Updates schedule for cancellations, rescheduling, and other changes on an ongoing basis.
