Job summary

Atrium Health’s Rome Women's Center seeks a Patient Services Representative I to handle patient registration, verify demographics and insurance, and collect liabilities. You will guide patients through pre-certification steps and navigate insurance requirements with accuracy and care.

In a fast-paced environment, you’ll collaborate with clinical staff, ensure smooth patient flow, and maintain confidentiality while delivering excellent service and clear financial information.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; experience in patient access and insurance verification preferred.
• Experience in scheduling, registration, financial clearance, or billing preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant credential is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients arriving for appointments and monitors patient flow.
• Verifies and updates patient demographic and insurance information.
• Completes registration for walk-in patients and collects liabilities.
• Obtains, calculates, and collects patient liability and past‑due balances.
• Follows financial clearance policies when required.
• Identifies patients needing financial assistance and refers to counsel.
• Performs visit closure and schedules follow-up appointments.
• Maintains knowledge of payer requirements and accepted plans.
• Communicates issues to management and strives for high accuracy.
• Maintains professional relations with patients, families, and staff.
