Job summary

Johnson Memorial Hospital is seeking a part-time Patient Registration Clerk to support ED registrations and pre-registrations. You will gather demographic, insurance and patient liability information while working with multiple hospital systems.

The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, plus comfort using hospital computer systems and knowledge of medical terminology and insurance. Training includes orientation and on-site practice.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year hospital or physician’s office experience preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Employment Type: Part time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: ORIENTATION IS MON-FRI 8a-4:30p FOR 2 WEEKS
Includes classroom time in Springfield at Mercy Medical Center

Position Purpose

Completes patient registrations/pre-registration processes in the ED following department procedures using identified technology systems. Processes include obtaining accurate demographic, insurance and patient liability information. Responsible for working with multiple department/hospital and web-based systems.

• Performs complete and accurate pre-registrations, registration, and admission functions
• Verifies insurance requirements, obtains and understands insurance benefits
• Ensures that all entries concerning demographic, financial and advanced directives are
• Collects non-covered fees

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum High school or equivalent
• One year experience in an accredited hospital or physician's office preferred
• Strong interpersonal, communication and interview skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer systems and computer devices
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurances
