Job summary

St. Mary's Hospital - Kankakee is seeking a Patient Account Registrar for the SMKIL Admitting department. This full-time, dayshift role requires interviewing patients to collect demographics and securing insurance information including eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as needed.

You will work closely with PBX and reception areas, input data into the system, and communicate effectively with patients across age groups while maintaining medical terminology proficiency.

Qualifications

• Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Customer Services experience required

Responsibilities

• Interviews the patient or representative to obtain demographics.
• Secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits and authorizations as applicable.
• Works with Admitting dept including PBX operator and reception areas.
• Operates a computer to input and retrieve data.
• Communicates with patients using age-appropriate techniques.
• Maintains proficiency in medical terminology.
• May perform special projects with set timeframes.
