Job summary

Violet Health is seeking a proactive Patient Intake & Prior Authorization Specialist to manage front-end onboarding and coverage approvals. You will verify eligibility, register referrals, and coordinate with clinical teams and payers to obtain necessary authorizations.

You will ensure accurate data entry into the EHR, explain coverage details to patients, and maintain HIPAA-compliant records while supporting a fast-paced care team.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in healthcare intake, patient access, prior authorization, or medical billing/scheduling.
• In-depth understanding of prior authorization workflows and payer portals (Availity, CoverMyMeds, payer-specific web portals).
• Hands-on experience with EHR/Practice Management platforms (Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, or Kareo).
• Excellent communication and phone etiquette, strong attention to detail, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or relevant medical administrative certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Intake & Registration: collect and enter demographic, clinical, and insurance data into the EHR.
• Insurance Verification: verify active coverage, copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and network status.
• Prior Authorization Management: prepare, submit, and track requests for various services.
• Clinical Coordination: collaborate with physicians, nurses, and medical assistants for required documents.
• Denial Resolution & Peer-to-Peer Support: monitor denials, assist in appeals, and schedule reviews.
• Patient Communication: inform patients about authorization status and financial responsibilities.
• Compliance & Recordkeeping: adhere to HIPAA and payer timelines.
