Job summary

Violet Health is seeking a proactive Patient Intake & Prior Authorization Specialist to manage front-end onboarding and coverage approvals. You will verify eligibility, register referrals, and coordinate with clinical teams and payers.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in healthcare intake or medical billing, experience with Epic/Athena/Cerner/Kareo, and strong communication skills to support patients and clinicians.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in healthcare intake, prior authorization, or medical billing/scheduling.
• Knowledge of prior authorization workflows and payer portals (Availity, CoverMyMeds).
• Experience with EHR/practice management systems (Epic, Athenahealth, Cerner, Kareo).

Responsibilities

• Intake & registration: collect and enter patient demographics, clinical and insurance data into the EHR.
• Verify active coverage, copays, coinsurance, deductibles, and network status.
• Prepare, submit, and track prior authorization requests for services and meds.
• Coordinate with physicians and staff to obtain necessary documentation.
• Monitor denials, assist in appeals, and schedule peer-to-peer reviews when needed.
• Communicate with patients about status and explain coverage/out-of-pocket responsibilities.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and proper recordkeeping.
