Job summary

East River Medical Imaging is seeking an Authorization & Patient Access Coordinator to manage patient orders, obtain necessary pre-authorizations, and coordinate with clinical teams. You will collect eligibility and demographic data, review insurance information, and assist with billing disputes related to authorizations.

This non-exempt role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to work under policies while coordinating with patients, payers, and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 2 years college experience or 2 years’ experience in healthcare
• Strong communication and organization skills
• Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and coordinate with others
• Proficient with patient data handling and insurance information

Responsibilities

• Obtain authorization for patient care (initial, re-authorization, follow-up)
• Follow approved guidelines for patient and payer interactions
• Collect, review, and document demographic, insurance, and financial information
• Maintain progress/tracking reports on outstanding authorizations
• Assist billing with claims issues due to insurance authorization denials
• Verify insurance eligibility; contact patients and departments as needed
