Mercy in Springfield is seeking a Patient Access Representative who will be the first contact for patients, providing compassionate service and ensuring accurate intake of information. The role involves scheduling, registration, verifying benefits, pre-certification and financial clearance to facilitate a smooth visit.

Candidates should have 1–3 years of clerical or customer service experience, a high school diploma, and familiarity with medical terminology and insurance plans.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication; telephone etiquette.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, physicians, staff and insurers.
• Strong organizational skills; attention to detail.
• Ability to work under stress, meet deadlines and perform all daily assignments accurately.
• Knowledgeable with computer systems; ability to use a 10-key calculator.

Responsibilities

• Schedule, register, verify benefits and perform pre-certification.
• Assist with financial clearance including pre-visit collection.
• Ensure accurate patient data is entered into the record.
• Coordinate with patients, physicians, and insurance companies to facilitate visits.
