Job summary

Qualifications

• 1 year Patient Access experience is required for internal staff.
• Meets/exceeds BHSF registration accuracy and productivity standards for the most recent 6 months.
• Exceeds departmental KPIs.
• Maintains a positive attitude, is self-motivated, and encourages others.
• Identified as a team player and cross trained in multiple areas to substitute all staff positions.
• For external staff: Associates Degree preferred with 1 year Patient Access experience, or 2 years experience in lieu of degree.
• Complete and pass the Patient Access training course.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment; basic math skills.
• Detail oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, Medicare coverage, and insurance processes.
• Understanding of insurance contracts, collections, authorizations/pre-certifications, MS Office and EMR systems.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Bilingual English, Spanish/Creole preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient flow and timely processing within the department/physician practice/hospital.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance requirements, pricing, financial assistance options, and Revenue Cycle operations.
• Support go-lives and departmental initiatives including onboarding and training.
• Participate in departmental committees and champion opportunities.
• Exhibit Baptist Health's service excellence by providing professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients, families, employees, physicians and community members.
