Job summary

Optum is seeking a Patient Access Specialist (Financial Counselor) in Chandler, AZ. This per diem role is the first point of contact for inquiries about the provider's practice and involves organizing daily activities and paperwork.

The position requires onsite work at 1955 W FRYE RD, Chandler, AZ, with Sunday and Monday shifts 7:30AM–3:00PM and potential other hours as needed. A sign-on bonus is available for external applicants.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of customer service in a hospital, office setting, or phone support role.
• 1+ years of electronic health record experience.
• Ability to work 100% onsite at 1955 W FRYE RD, Chandler, AZ.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits on all assigned accounts.
• Obtains referral, authorization and pre-certification information and documents it in the system.
• Identifies outstanding balances from patient visits and attempts to collect amounts due.
• Trains staff on computer systems, new processes, payer updates and reporting.
• Functions as a superuser for primary computer systems.
• Proactively identifies and leads department process improvement opportunities.
• Works on Special Projects as needed.
• Performs the duties of a Patient Access Representative.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of admission, registration and pre-registration requirements.
