Job summary

Community First Medical Center is seeking a Patient Access Manager to oversee admission, outpatient registration, insurance verifications and central scheduling. The role plans departmental procedures, directs staff workflow, and ensures policies are understood and followed.

The manager directs daily operations, monitors productivity, and serves as a liaison to patients, families, physicians and other departments, fostering service excellence in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a healthcare field or related certification is preferred.
  • Experience supervising staff in a healthcare setting is desirable.
  • Demonstrates strong customer service orientation and detail focus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and healthcare information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop departmental procedures for Patient Access areas.

Description

The Patient Access Manager assumes the responsibility for planning and developing departmental procedures and directing personnel work flow of the emergency/admitting, outpatient registration areas, insurance verifications, and central scheduling. Responsible for the daily operations for the overall administration and management of Patient Access. Directs activities through the assignment of responsibilities and monitors performance against department standards. Assures polices and procedures are understood and adhered to. Ensures accurate guidelines and resources exist to support staff, monitors productivity, efficiency and effectiveness throughout Patient Access. The manager serves as a liaison and representative of Community First Medical Center to patients, families, physicians and other departments.

Requirements
  • Previous registration or related experience preferred.
  • Background in healthcare strongly preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written skills required.
  • Customer Service oriented and detail focused.
Education and/or Experience
  • Professional knowledge of information systems in healthcare setting at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or certification in a health care related field.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Approximately 5-7 years of progressively more responsible related work experience necessary to fully understand hospital functioning and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
