Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health in the Puget Sound region seeks a Patient Access Team Lead to provide day-to-day operational leadership and workflow coordination for hospital access across ED, main registration, admitting, and payer notification workflows.

You will guide staff with real-time guidance, resolve complex registration and financial issues, and ensure timely, accurate access activities while delivering a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in patient access or hospital-based registration.
• Experience in a senior, lead, or advanced role within patient access.
• Experience supporting ED, main registration, admitting or related workflows.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time operational oversight and workflow coordination for patient access activities.
• Coordinate daily work assignments and area coverage to support patient flow and service standards.
• Escalate and resolve complex registration, insurance verification, authorization, and financial issues.
• Perform complex patient registration, insurance verification, and financial clearance as needed.
• Explain patient financial responsibility and available financial assistance options.
• Coach and support Patient Access Representatives, Financial Counselors, and Eligibility staff.
