Job summary

Prisma Health’s Parkridge Hospital is seeking a patient registration specialist to interview patients, collect demographic and financial data, verify insurance, and initiate pre-authorization when required. You will also collect payments, prepare reports, and communicate estimated financial responsibility to patients.

The role requires high school diploma and at least two years of admissions, billing, collections, insurance, or customer service experience.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of Admissions, Billing, Collections, Insurance and/or Customer Service.
• HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality.
• Basic math and cash handling skills.
• Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to collect demographic and financial data.
• Verify insurance coverage and initiate pre-authorization when required.
• Collect payments and issue receipts, handling deposits per policy.
• Prepare and distribute reports and patient identification items.
• Explain estimated financial responsibility and arrange payment options.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
