Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a patient access representative to support staffing, registration, and patient flow in the Heart Center. You will greet visitors, coordinate tests and procedures, and relay information to physicians, patients, and staff while maintaining confidentiality.

This PRN/day shift role emphasizes customer service and accuracy. The ideal candidate has strong English communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a busy hospital

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years in customer service and/or patient access in a hospital setting preferred.
• Proficient in English; strong communication and accuracy in documentation.

Responsibilities

• Registers patient types and resolves patient concerns with privacy and HIPAA compliance.
• Coordinate scheduling of tests and procedures; act as patient advocate and greet visitors.
• Maintain welcoming environment in Heart Center waiting areas and assist staff with flow.
• Communicate clearly with physicians, patients, visitors and staff; ensure proper signatures for treatments.
• Work with nursing and ancillary teams to uphold department standards and teamwork.
• Perform duties related to registration software and general administrative tasks.

Job Description

Excels in all functions performed by patient representatives. Assumes responsibilities to ensure adequate staffing and problem-solving. Registers all patient types and assists in resolving patient concerns. Maintains effectiveness of patient flow and ensures patient confidentiality and privacy in accordance with HIPAA laws and regulations. Serves as the initial point of contact for physician practices to coordinate scheduling of tests and procedures. Acts as a patient advocate, proactively greeting visitors upon arrival and projecting a positive and helpful demeanor. Relays accurate information to physician practices, patients, visitors, and staff. Maintains a welcoming environment in the Heart Center waiting areas. Facilitates communication between visitors and healthcare staff, displaying excellent communication skills. Escorts patients, family members, and visitors. Oversees daily activities of the Heart Center registration area to ensure department standards are met. Secures all necessary signatures for treatments, release of medical information, and assignment of insurance benefits and payment of services. Works closely and professionally with nursing and ancillary departments to maintain a teamwork approach. Other duties as assigned.

Work Experience

Pay Range

$16.02 - $25.63
