Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Patient access (scheduling, registration and financial clearance), insurance verification, billing or certified medical assistant experience preferred.
• Experience with Medicare/Medicaid and third-party payer requirements is helpful.
• Certified medical assistant experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients arriving for their appointments.
• Monitors patient flow to ensure efficient and courteous care.
• Verifies patient demographics and insurance information.
• Completes registration on walk-in patients and updates records as needed.
• Verifies insurance benefits and collects out-of-pocket liability.
• Follows financial clearance policy when needed.
• Identifies patients needing financial assistance and refers to Financial Counselor.
• Performs visit closure and schedules follow-up appointments.
• Maintains knowledge of payer requirements and pre-authorization rules.
• Communicates issues to management for service improvement.
• Meets productivity and 98% accuracy targets.
• Maintains professional relations with patients and staff.
