Qualifications

• High school diploma; an associate degree is preferred.
• 1–3 years experience in hospital/clinic, insurance company, managed care, or other healthcare financial service setting.
• Knowledge of insurance programs, billing processes, and managed care contracts is preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and basic Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, data entry, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Verifies patient identification, demographics, and insurance coverage.
• Accepts point of service payments.
• Enters patient information into hospital information systems.
• References patients with questions about financial liability to the appropriate resources.
• Accepts medical authorization or referral forms when appropriate.
• Processes documents to obtain insurance information.
• Provides estimates of out-of-pocket costs.
• Educates patients/families on registration kiosks or online systems.
• Identifies routine issues and escalates to Lead Patient Access Concierge.
