Sentara Health in Charlottesville, VA seeks a Part Time Day shift Patient Access Representative to handle patient registration, insurance verification, and payment collection. You will verify identities, enter data in the EHR, and assist patients with scheduling, pre-admission, and discharge tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of higher education may substitute for experience.
• Two years of customer service or data entry experience required.
• Proficiency in computer keyboarding; knowledge of third party payers, ICD-9/CPT coding and medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and verify identity and correct record.
• Review schedules and orders to register for services.
• Scan insurance cards, IDs, and other documents; enter demographics in the EHR.
• Explain complex documents; collect co-pays, deposits and balances.
• Greet patients and answer questions; ensure arrival to service areas on time.
• May perform scheduling, pre-admission and discharge tasks; provide updates to families.
