Job summary

Emerus is a leader in small-format hospitals with day shift operations. This Full-Time role in Schertz focuses on patient registration, insurance verification, and optimizing revenue cycle processes. You will verify demographics, confirm benefits, and assist with billing tasks to ensure accurate hospital reimbursement.

The position requires attention to detail, excellent customer service, and proficiency with MS Office; prior ED registration experience is a plus. Fluency in English is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of patient registration and insurance verification experience; 2 years preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid payors is required.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between patient/family, payers, and health care team to facilitate registration and billing.
• Obtain and verify demographic information for accounts to support revenue cycle.
• Verify insurance benefits and confirm correct payor and plan in the system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Pursue collections at the time of service in a customer service-oriented manner.
