Baptist Health is looking for a Patient Access Coordinator to join their team in Paducah, KY.

Shift: 2nd

Full-time position with rotating weekends.

Responsibilities

1. Exhibit expert communication skills, telephone etiquette, and customer service always.
2. Pre-register patients, demonstrating the ability to discuss benefits with patients during pre-registration and in the department.
3. Demonstrate clinical knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology to determine appropriate tests to be scheduled.
4. Schedule patients in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner; gather complete information about tests and diagnoses to enhance the revenue cycle.
5. Reschedule or cancel appointments as needed.
6. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
7. Ensure Medicare compliance.
8. Prepare patient estimates, including patient portion due.
9. Obtain insurance pre-certification, authorization, and referrals; understand requirements.
10. Obtain insurance pre-certification directly from payors where applicable.
11. Maintain scheduling system updates and changes.
12. Manage orders effectively.

Education, Training, and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Strong computer skills.
• Strong research and problem-solving abilities.
• Prior experience in customer service, call centers, or healthcare preferred but not required.
• Excellent attendance, punctuality, and ability to meet established metrics are crucial for success in this role.
