Job summary

David Raines Community Health Centers is seeking an Intake Specialist to be the first point of contact for new patients in Shreveport. The role involves collecting information, verifying documentation and initiating services, with hours Monday–Wednesday, Friday 8am–5pm and Thursday 9am–6pm.

The position requires 3+ years in patient/customer service, proficiency with electronic health records, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations professionally and compassionately.
• At least three years of patient/customer services experience.
• At least two years of healthcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives inbound and outbound calls to/from patients regarding clinical care and services to include scheduling, follow-ups and referrals.
• Manage calls/texts from Answering Service and transfer to appropriate staff.
• Coordinate inquiries from patients, referral sources, payors, and co-workers with clinic leadership and staff.
• Ensure confidential information is entered into a computerized system accurately.
• Verify patient insurance, explain sliding fees, Medicaid applications and other resources.
• Perform PSR duties when coverage is needed.
• Maintain Daily Report spreadsheets and comply with safety and privacy policies.
• Process patient co-payments and deductibles and report receipts timely.
• Perform additional duties as needed.
