Atrium Health is seeking a dedicated Patient Services Representative to support Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Thomasville, NC. You will greet patients, collect demographics, verify insurance, and collect balances, ensuring accurate financial clearance and smooth check-in.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and experience with insurance verification, billing, or certified medical assisting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; related patient access experience preferred (scheduling, registration, financial clearance).
• Experience with insurance verification, billing or certified medical assistant is preferred.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with patients and staff; handle confidential information per policy.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and manage patient flow to ensure courteous, efficient care.
• Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information; complete registration.
• Explain financial responsibilities; collect balances and ensure accuracy of insurance data.
• Verify benefits and obtain pre-authorization when required; refer to Financial Counselor as needed.
• Complete visit closures: schedule follow-ups and provide necessary documents.
• Maintain knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and payer requirements; stay updated on pre-certification rules.
• Escalate issues to management for process improvement and meet productivity and accuracy targets.
• Maintain professional relationships with patients and clinical staff for timely information flow.
