Job summary

University of South Alabama is seeking a patient access/registration professional to support clinic operations on-site. You will greet patients, collect and verify demographic and insurance information, and ensure accurate charting for scheduled clinics.

Experience with Electronic Medical Records and strong attention to detail are preferred. The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year in a healthcare or customer service setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year of experience in access center, customer service, or healthcare setting Required
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records Preferred
• Completion of higher level of education as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama will substitute for the required experience. Preferred
• Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

• Calls patients to remind them of scheduled appointments and to verify demographic information for billing purposes
• Prepares charts and encounter tickets for scheduled clinics in accordance with policies
• Greets patients in a friendly manner and checks patients into clinic
• Obtains demographic and insurance information and verifies insurance through carrier websites
• Maintains medical records and files clinical data, referrals, inpatient records and test results daily
• Processes all medical records requests and HIPAA compliant disclosures
• Ensures patient confidentiality and handles cash, co-pays, and billing inquiries
