Job summary

The University of South Alabama is seeking an access center assistant to support patient registration, scheduling, and billing activities at USA Health in Mobile, AL. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 1 year of clerical experience in access center, customer service, or healthcare.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred.
  • Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Calls patients to remind them of scheduled appointments, reschedule no-show appointments and verify demographic information for billing purposes.
  • Prepares charts and encounter tickets for scheduled clinics per policies and guidelines.
  • Register patients accurately and maintains demographic information in the EHR.
  • Greet patients and visitors professionally and courteously.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
  • Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and other departments to ensure seamless patient access and care coordination.
  • Obtains demographic and insurance information and verifies eligibility and benefits.
