Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital seeks a Patient Finance Specialist for the Jackson Community Mental Health Center - mental health patient access. The role is full-time days, handling timely patient registration and insurance verification to support accurate billing and patient care.

Responsibilities include obtaining demographics, processing payments, obtaining necessary authorizations, and aligning records to the patient’s medical and financial files.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience with patient registration and insurance verification preferred.
• Strong attention to policy details and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients and family to obtain all necessary account information.
• Bedside registration performed using carts/computers on wheels.
• Obtain patient demographic information with insurance and financial details.
• Search MPI (Master Patient Index) and assign correct medical record number.
• Notify supervisor of any medical record numbers.
• Verify insurance and obtain pre-certification/authorization as warranted.
• Obtain proper authorization for treatment and codes from carriers.
• Assigns insurance plan accurately.
• Calculate and collect patient liable amounts.
• Explain policies regarding services per Collections Policy.
• Process patient payments; issue receipts and maintain payment integrity.
• Obtain signatures for treatments and related documents.
• Obtain copies of IDs and insurance cards.
• Scan documents timely.
• Answer questions and explain policies clearly.
• Assist patients/families with appointment scheduling.
• Process charts according to workflow and productivity standards.
• Produce paperwork for distribution to departments.
• Align documents to establish patient medical and financial records.
• Welcome patients and families professionally.
• Coordinate with clinical staff for emergencies.
• Inform patient/representative of delinquent accounts and collect payments.
• Ensure physician orders are attached to medical records.
