Job summary

Emerus is seeking a Patient Access Specialist in Carlisle, PA to serve as a liaison between patients, payers, and the Patient Financial Services team. You will collect demographic information, verify insurance details, and secure out-of-pocket payments to maximize reimbursement.

Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA, handling registrations, and coordinating transfers when needed. A high school diploma and healthcare registration experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of patient registration and insurance verification experience preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
• Fluency in English; including writing and speaking.
• In the El Paso Market, fluency in English & Spanish is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and all applicable regulations in Admissions settings and medical records handling.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships with customers.
• Identify patients correctly and triage upon hospital arrival.
• Answer calls professionally, record messages and relay to staff.
• Obtain signatures on forms and consents as required.
• Enter complete demographic information to facilitate revenue cycle processing.
• Verify insurance benefits for all plans and ensure correct payor and plan are in the system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required by plans.
• Pursue collections at the time of service in a customer-service oriented manner.
• Scan and file registration and clinical documents.
