Responsibilities

  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality.

About the Job

Location: Montgomery Medical Center

Status: Part-time, 16-hours per week (Benefits and PTO are not offered)

Schedule: Every Weekend, Saturday & Sunday 3:00pm-11:30pm

General Summary of Position

The Patient Access Associate I acts as the first point of contact with patients guests and family members and is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service in every interaction. The major responsibilities include but are not limited to performing patient access and registration functions using designated system applications. These functions include answering incoming calls verifying and scheduling patient appointments demographics coverage information and collection of patient liabilities when applicable. admissions. Verifies patient demographics insurance eligibility and coverage details. Demonstrates strong customer service communication and interpersonal skills. Adheres to HIPAA regulations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Receives and answers telephone calls. Schedules reschedules and confirms patient appointments.
  • Creates encounters and obtains patient information for requested services as directed by the clinical department and location of services.
  • Acts as the patient's first point of contact by greeting and reviewing information with patient upon arrival.
  • Collects and captures accurate patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Verifies insurance eligibility either by EHR software telephone or internet websites.
  • Informs patients of their payment options including payment plans financial assistance programs and compassionate care programs.
  • Requests collects documents and communicates payment requirements for co-pays and deductibles.
  • Complies with arm banding two patient identifiers patient and document hand-off procedures.
  • Attends required system Patient Access monthly and annual meetings.

Minimal Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience

  • 1-2 years Customer service experience required and
  • 1-2 years Patient registration experience preferred and
  • 1-2 years Hospital experience or healthcare setting preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • CHAA - Certified Healthcare Access Associate CHAA certification preferred

This position has a hiring range of

USD $18.70 - USD $32.72 /Hr.
