Job summary

OSF HealthCare is seeking a Patient Access Associate in Peoria, IL. You will ensure each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, including demographics, insurance coverage, guarantor, and registration precision.

You will help patients understand their services and financial responsibilities while delivering a strong first impression of OSF’s services. The role requires excellent customer service, problem-solving skills, and the ability to navigate a multi-payer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year in office clerical or customer service setting.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic website navigation.
• Must complete revenue cycle training within 12 months.
• Preferred: 3 years in office/medical revenue cycle environment.
• Knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS and modifiers helpful.

Responsibilities

• Ensure patient records are complete and accurate, including demographics, insurance, and registration details.
• Explain services, financial responsibilities, and expectations to patients over the phone or in person.
• Provide excellent patient service to patients, families, and external customers.
• Resolve issues in a complex multi-payer environment using deductive reasoning and logic.

Expected pay for this position is $18.80 - $22.12/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, which includes patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor and registration precision in a manner which they understand what services they are receiving, their financial responsibilities for the services provided, and expectations of them while at the facility. Excellent patient service skills are expected to create an exceptional first impression of OSF’s services to the patients, families, and other external patients over the phone or in person. A high degree of deductive reasoning and logic skills are necessary in order to solve issues that can arise in a complex, multi-payer situation.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or GED

Experience: One year in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.

Other skills/knowledge: Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation. Problem solving, conflict management, time management, good oral and written communication skills. Required to complete all role specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Three years in an office clerical setting or customer service environment. Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting.

Other skills/knowledge: Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers. Knowledge of medical terminology.
