Job summary

Inova Health System is seeking a Patient Access Associate 2 in Virginia. The role is full-time, with a Monday-Friday schedule and two evening shifts, focusing on admitting patients, verifying insurance, and providing financial counseling.

You will support the Inova mission through service excellence while working in the Franconia-Springfield area. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and 1 year of healthcare patient access or related experience, or a bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience: 1 year healthcare patient access or 1 year in healthcare revenue cycle, or bachelor’s degree.
• Preferred: 2 years customer service.
• Preferred: 1 year healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Admit patients and schedule using appropriate systems.
• Verify insurance coverage and discuss payment responsibilities.
• Communicate scheduling changes to patients and staff.
• Identify payroll authorization and referral requirements for patients.
• Explain insurance benefits and patient liability clearly.
• Report safety hazards and take action to protect guests.
• Maintain accuracy while improving workflow and reducing errors.
• Escalate problems when needed for resolution.

Job Description

Inova Physical Therapy, Franconia-Springfield Sportsplex is looking for a dedicated Patient Access Associate 2 to join the team. This is full-time, Monday-Friday, Mid shift hours 8:30/9am-5:00/5:30pm, Two evening shifts required 10:30-7:00pm. As a Patient Access Associate 2, you will adhere to Inova Health System's "Service Excellence" standards while admitting/scheduling patients, conducting insurance verifications and providing financial counseling.

Patient Access Associates 2 Job Responsibilities:

• Expresses sincere concern and empathy when dealing with customer complaints.
• Accesses appropriate systems/services to confirm insurance coverage or other means of payment.
• Communicates scheduling changes to patients, staff, physicians and patient representatives in a timely and professional manner.
• Identifies and communicates payroll authorization and referral requirements to patients.
• Explains insurance benefits and patient liability by using appropriate communication methods/styles.
• Reports safety hazards/violations and takes appropriate action to protect the environment and guests until help arrives – if necessary.
• Delivers an acceptable volume of work with high levels of accuracy while improving inefficiencies and minimizing repetitive errors by revising current workflow procedures.
• Recognizes when a problem needs to be elevated for resolution and involves others in the problem-solving process when additional input is needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:High School Diploma or GED

Experience:1 year of healthcare patient access experience, or 1-year experience in healthcare revenue cycle, or bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

2 years of customer service experience

1 year healthcare experience
