Job Summary
Ensure the operations of on-site and off-site patient access, registration, and cashier functions to efficiently admit and discharge patients and maximize the hospital’s cash position. Facilitate the resolution of all customer service issues. Ensure staff members develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the various systems utilized by Patient Access Services.

Essential Functions

  1. Computer skills, customer service, medical terminology, and the ability to do multiple tasks simultaneously.
  2. Strong analytical and project management skills; outstanding organizational skills and professionalism.
  3. Knowledge of third-party payer requirements; proficiency in insurance verification using online techniques.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  5. Compliance with all Federal and State laws and regulations.
  6. Creation and enforcement of departmental policies and procedures.
  7. Monitoring and auditing the accuracy of all information obtained, including registration documents, photo IDs, and insurance cards.
  8. Providing ancillary providers with accurate information.
  9. Maintaining good relationships with physicians, office staff, Hospital Utilization Review, and Medical Records departments.
  10. Assisting with registration processes as needed.
  11. Keeping superiors and staff informed of issues and system changes.
  12. Motivating staff in a dynamic environment.
  13. Performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Certifications

Associate's Degree in Business or equivalent hospital admissions experience.

Minimum Work Experience

2-3 years of related hospital admissions experience.
