Job summary

Great River Health is seeking a Patient Access Associate to be the first point of contact for patients, families and visitors. You will register patients, schedule appointments, verify demographics and insurance, collect payments, and support billing and data accuracy in the EMR system.

You will collaborate with clinical teams to ensure smooth workflow, maintain confidentiality, and deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED preferred.
• Less than 1 year healthcare experience preferred.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and scheduling software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong customer service and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and multitasking ability.
• HIPAA privacy and security familiarity.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors.
• Register patients accurately with personal and medical information.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate with clinical teams.
• Verify demographics and insurance; obtain prior authorizations as needed.
• Collect payments, including co-pays and outstanding balances.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate EMR records.
• Handle calls and relay messages to proper departments.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and regulatory requirements.
