Job summary

Optim Health is seeking a dedicated Front Desk Registrar at the GA facility. You will handle pre-registration for admissions and outpatient procedures, verify insurance, and manage reservations from physicians’ offices.

Role requires communication with nursing staff, patient rights information, HIPAA awareness, and timely payment collection. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including holidays and weekends, is essential.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registers patients for scheduled admissions and outpatient procedures.
• Obtains authorization and verifies insurance.
• Accepts reservations from any physician's office.
• Obtains signatures on Conditions of Admissions and any Authorization for Treatment and initiates the advance directive process.
• Communicates with nursing services when no advance directive is available.
• Provides information to the patient/representative about complaint process, patient rights, HIPAA and visiting hours.
• Distributes hospital specific literature.
• Communicates with the nursing department to ensure valuables are taken home or secured.
• Communicates appropriately to supervisor, nurse managers, coworkers and physicians.
• Consults other departments to provide an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
• Responsible for knowing hospital policies and services available.
• Collects payments when co-pay is required and records them.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and ability to function under stress.
• Treats patients and families with respect and confidentiality of records.
• Answers telephone calls promptly, routes calls, offers voicemail, pages or redirects as needed.
• Greets, directs and assists patients and visitors.
• Informs registration/admitting when patient arrives and screens solicitors for relevance to organization needs.
• Directs patients/visitors to waiting areas.
• Notifies insurance companies for admissions.
• Must be available to work all shifts including holidays and weekends.
