Job summary

Grand Canyon University is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support learning excellence within the College of Natural Sciences on GCU's Main Campus in Phoenix. This face-to-face, part-time role involves hands-on instruction, tutoring, classroom facilitation, and academic support to help students engage and succeed.

You will partner with faculty to prepare lessons, assist with grading, hold weekly tutoring hours, and reinforce concepts through small group and one-on-one sessions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
• Reside in Arizona and work in person on GCU's Main Campus.
• Coursework in Biological Science (Biochemistry, Physiology, or Cellular Function) with a grade of B or higher.
• Strong communication and classroom support skills.
• Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or instructional support experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with faculty to support classroom instruction and student engagement.
• Assist with lesson preparation, grading, and classroom facilitation.
• Hold weekly office hours to provide tutoring and academic support.
• Reinforce course concepts through one-on-one and group assistance.
• Support classroom management and proctor examinations.
• Observe and report student progress to faculty.
• Facilitate review sessions and supplemental instruction opportunities.
• Help create a collaborative and encouraging learning environment.
• Uphold and support the mission and values of Grand Canyon University.
