Job summary

Grand Canyon University is seeking motivated, knowledgeable Instructional Assistants to support learning in the College of Natural Sciences at our Main Campus in Phoenix, AZ. The role involves hands-on tutoring, classroom facilitation, and academic support to foster student success.

The position is part-time, in-person, with a flexible schedule (up to 10 hours per week) and opportunities to collaborate with faculty and gain instructional experience in higher education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
• Must reside in Arizona and be available to work in person on GCU’s Main Campus.
• Successfully completed coursework in Ecology, Conservation Biology, or Environmental Science with a grade of B or higher.
• Strong communication and classroom support skills.
• Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or instructional support experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with faculty to support classroom instruction and student engagement.
• Assist with lesson preparation, grading, and classroom facilitation.
• Hold weekly office hours to provide tutoring and academic support.
• Reinforce course concepts through one-on-one and group assistance.
• Support classroom management and proctor examinations.
• Observe and report student progress to faculty.
• Facilitate review sessions and supplemental instruction opportunities.
• Help create a collaborative and encouraging learning environment.
• Uphold and support the mission and values of Grand Canyon University.
