Job description

Performs clinical laboratory procedures, examinations, and other tests according to established protocols. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment and records, performing quality assurance activities, and exercising independent judgment and responsibility.

Job Description:

1. Sets up and performs a variety of routine and/or complex laboratory tests and procedures relevant to the lab area and qualifications. Prepares and tests specimens and reports results.
2. Follows established in-process quality control procedures, including data recording.
3. Performs routine and preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
4. Troubleshoots basic instrumentation, culture media, chemicals, reagents, stains, solutions, and technical issues.
5. Maintains sufficient supplies at the work station.
6. Ensures and maintains quality control and assurance activities.
7. Uses infection control practices and procedures.
8. Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Basic Science, or related field preferred.
• Licensed by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (or relevant area) (LIC-CLT or LIC-CYTOT), required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of work experience and/or training specific to the area, required.
• Histology background and experience preferred.
