Job summary

Qualifications

• The Chief must be board certified by the American Board of Pathologists and hold an unrestricted state medical license.

Responsibilities

• The Chief oversees clinical operations with responsibility for quality outcomes and patient safety.
• Administrative functions include budget and fiscal management; human resources; strategic planning; and program development.
• The Chief ensures clinical and administrative functions are integrated for optimum resource utilization.
• Ensures quality and timeliness of services, customer satisfaction, and compliance with accrediting bodies (e.g., The Joint Commission, CAP, OIG).
• Collaborates with other VATVCBHCS management to advance the service's mission.
• Functions as a pathology provider, collaborates with referring providers, optimizes timeliness, and ensures quality.
• Advances the healthcare delivery mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Services are subject to Congressional and public scrutiny.
