Job summary

The VA Fargo Health Care System is seeking an Associate Chief of Staff for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine to provide leadership and oversee all pathology and laboratory services at the medical center and affiliated sites.

The role combines administrative and clinical duties, with emphasis on quality, cost-effective care, coordination with ICC leadership, and ensuring alignment with VHA standards and strategic goals.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an approved school.
• Current full and unrestricted medical license in a US state or territory.
• Residency training in core pathology or related field; board eligibility/certification.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for pathology and laboratory services at the Fargo VA Health Care System.
• Oversee organization, delivery, and quality of pathology and lab care; ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Supervise clinical staff and coordinate with the Chief of Staff and ICC leadership.
• Balance ~25% administrative duties with ~75% clinical responsibilities.
