Job summary

IHA in Ypsilanti, MI is seeking a Pathology Technician to perform accessioning, technical preparation, grossing and dictation of Surgical & Cytology specimens. The role requires high technical proficiency to ensure accurate diagnoses and efficient workflow within the lab.

Responsibilities include handling specimens, preparing slides, coordinating with Pathologists, and maintaining lab equipment and records, while upholding HIPAA and safety standards in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma plus 2 years of college in a science curriculum; Associates preferred.
• Valid CPR Certification.
• Experience with Cytology prep or Histology processing preferred; knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Performs accessioning, technical preparation, grossing and dictation of pathology specimens.
• Assists with staining and coverslipping of slides and quality control.
• Maintains lab equipment, inventory and records; uses EMR and lab computer systems.
• Coordinates with pathologists and assistants; upholds patient privacy and safety standards.
