Job summary

Yosemite Pathology Medical Group in Modesto, CA is seeking a Grossing Technician to perform gross description, dictation, and dissection of tissue specimens under the supervision of a pathologist. You will prepare samples for embedding, select representative sections, and assist with slide preparation while maintaining accurate records.

The role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work in a high-stress clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Biological Sciences or related field is required.
• Knowledge of histology or grossing techniques a plus.
• Ability to prepare tissue for evaluation and assist pathologists.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, gross describe, dictate and dissect human tissue.
• Select representative sections for embedding and microscopic evaluation.
• Ensure specimen accessioning and proper documentation.
• Photograph gross specimens as needed.
• Review patient data with the attending pathologist.
• Coordinate and communicate with lab staff to meet deadlines.
• Maintain equipment and supplies, keep work area clean.
