Coral West Community Hospital in Miami seeks a pathology support specialist to assist the Pathology Department with gross examination, tissue processing and preparation for histology. You will prepare cassettes and slides, handle surgical specimens, maintain records and communicate with Clinicians, Hospitals and Clinics, while ensuring proper disposal and storage.

This role requires High School diploma or equivalent and comfort with formalin, biohazards and laboratory equipment in a hospital

Qualifications

• Analyzing Information, attention to detail, Hospital Environment, good communication skills, good organization.
• High School graduate or equivalent, no license required.

Responsabilités

• Prepare cassettes with the tissue from the Gross examination.
• File Blocks and slides.
• Handle surgically removed body parts and amputations for gross examination, processing and disposition.
• Handle bookkeeping, coding and billing for the Pathology Department.
• Send reports to Clinician offices, Hospitals and Clinics.
• Inventory, order and maintain adequate supplies for the proper functioning of the department.
• Retention and proper disposal of specimens removed at surgery and processed by Pathology.
• Prepare specimens and shipments to be sent for Special Stains to out of state Reference Laboratories or to Consultations.
