Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking a per diem Histology Technician for the Pathology Lab in our facility. The role involves slicing, staining, and mounting tissue specimens, and preparing slides for pathologist review.

Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Services, you will oversee office procedures, process pathology billing, and handle sendout requests while maintaining logs and a clean, organized lab environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience in a hospital histology laboratory.
• High School diploma required; ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares tissue for processing.
• Cuts sections to specifications and dictates macroscopic observations for transcription.
• Stains tissue using routine stains.
• Orders, prepares and replenishes materials, supplies and reagents.
• Files operative reports in patient records in a timely manner
• Performs scheduled preventative maintenance and quality control.
• Participates in the training of new employees.
• Discards pathology specimens appropriately.
• Prepares and ships samples requiring further testing in a timely manner.
• Accurately maintain sendout logs and paperwork
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of tissue lab.

Reporting to the Director of Laboratory Services, this person demonstrates the ability required to slice, stain and mount tissue specimens utilizing various reagents and instruments, ensuring adequate slide preparation for viewing by the pathologist. Oversees the pathology office procedures and distributes reports in a timely fashion. Accurately processes pathology billing. Prepare, track and process pathology sendout requests
