Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Pathology Mid-Level Provider (Pathologists’ Assistant) for Desert Valley Medical Group in Victorville, CA. This per diem/part-time role supports surgical pathology with gross examination, dissection, documentation, and autopsy assistance as needed.

The candidate will work under board-certified pathologists, requiring a life sciences degree, NAACLS-accredited PA program (Master’s preferred), and ASCP PA certification or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in life science required.
• Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program (Master’s level preferred).
• Certification or certification-eligible through ASCP as PA(ASCP).
• Prior experience in a surgical pathology setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens.
• Accurately describe, document, and submit tissue sections for histologic processing.
• Assist in the preparation and execution of autopsies when applicable.
• Photograph specimens and maintain accurate specimen records.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with all regulatory and institutional policies.
• Communicate effectively with pathologists, histotechnologists, and clinical staff.
• Support pathology workflow management and case prioritization during high-volume periods.
