Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford, CT is seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant to work with pathologists and laboratory staff, examining, dissecting, and preparing complex surgical specimens and autopsy tissues that impact patient diagnosis and care. You will perform and supervise post-mortem examinations, assist with specimen handling, and mentor PA students in a fast-paced hospital setting.

NAACLS-approved PA program, ASCP certification or within 6 months, and strong teamwork are

Qualifications

• Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program.
• ASCP certification as Pathologists’ Assistant or within 6 months of hire.
• Demonstrates attention to detail and effective teamwork.
• Ability to work with limited supervision on complex tasks.
• Experience grossing highly complex specimens and performing autopsies.

Responsibilities

• Perform and/or supervise post-mortem examination with review of clinical history.
• Dissect organs, sample tissues, photograph specimens, and dictate gross findings.
• Train and mentor PA students; collaborate with pathologists and lab staff.
