Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center in Hartford, CT is seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant to support diagnostic excellence. You will work closely with pathologists to examine, dissect, and prepare complex specimens and autopsy tissues, impacting patient diagnosis and treatment.

The role involves supervision of post-mortem exams, collaboration with histology and laboratory staff, and mentoring PA students. NAACLS PA program completion and ASCP PA certification (or within 6 months) are required.

Qualifications

• Complete NAACLS accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program.
• ASCP PA certification or obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Experience grossing highly complex specimens and performing autopsies.
• Demonstrates attention to detail and effective teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Perform and supervise post-mortem examinations.
• Review patient clinical history and document findings.
• Dissect, sample, photograph specimens and dictate gross autopsy findings.
• Mentor PA students and train staff; collaborate with pathologists and lab personnel.
