Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in pathology assistance or closely related field.
• PA(ASCP) certification required at a minimum.
• ASCP Pathologist Assist certification required within 6 months of start date.

Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination of surgical specimens and document findings.
• Assist pathologists in processing and trimming tissues for microscopic evaluation.
• Support laboratory personnel with specimen accessioning and data entry.
• Maintain compliance with SHC policies and accreditation standards (CAP, Joint Commission).
• Coordinate with clinicians to obtain clinical histories for accurate interpretation.
• Demonstrate proficiency with tissue handling and special studies as directed.
