Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant to participate in gross description and dissection of surgical pathology specimens. You will work under a pathologist to describe features, prepare tissue sections, and assist with frozen section preparation when applicable.

The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Biology or related science with NAACLS PA training or ASCP certification, and must be ASCP certified or eligible within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Biology or related science; NAACLS approved PA training program or ASCP certification.
• ASCP certification or eligibility; must be certified within one year of hire.
• Experience in gross description and dissection under pathologist supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens.
• Describe gross anatomic features and prepare tissue sections for microscopic examination.
• Ensure proper specimen accessioning and labeling.
• Obtain clinical records, case history, and related imaging or scans when indicated.
• Photograph specimens as needed.
