Incyte Pathology in Tukwila, WA seeks a Pathology Assistant to support gross examination of surgical specimens, document findings, and assist Pathologists in autopsy-related tasks as needed. You will dissect specimens, photograph specimens for teaching and reports, maintain a clean workspace, and help with frozen sections, cryostat prep, and select special techniques under supervision.

BS degree is required, with MS preferred; NAACLS PA program graduate with ASCP certification is expected, and

Competenze

• BS degree required; MS preferred.
• Graduate of a NAACLS-accredited PA program and ASCP certified.
• Maintain ASCP certification.
• 1+ year of related experience preferred.

Mansioni

• Performs gross examination and dictation of surgical specimens.
• Photographs all appropriate gross specimens for teaching purposes and patient reports.
• Keeps paperwork, instruments and workspace clean, free of blood or other contaminants.
• Assists Pathologist in frozen sections.
• Troubleshoots issues with frozen section preparation and staining, or cryostat problems.
• Processes a fresh lymph node and presents findings to Pathologist.
• Opens uterus, bowel, ovary, etc., submitted for OR consultation and presents findings.
• Supports maintenance of the cryostat as required.
• Advises pathologists on special techniques and procedures as needed.
