Job summary

Sonic Healthcare USA is seeking a Pathologist Assistant for a hospital-based anatomic pathology role in Las Vegas, NV. You will perform gross descriptions, dissections, and tissue handling for histologic examination, including frozen sections, in a fast-paced laboratory.

The position requires a Bachelor of Science or Master’s Pathologist Assistant program from an NCCLS-accredited institution, 1 year of grossing experience, and ASCP BOC certification. Safety and quality are essential in this role.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Pathologist Assistant program from an NCCLS accredited institution.
1 year of laboratory experience grossing all tissue types from simple to complex.
Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists BOC.
Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
Ability to operate general laboratory equipment including telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms.

Responsibilities

Perform a vital part of the patient care process through preparation, gross description, and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens.
Recognize when corrective action is needed and implement effective solutions.
Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards.
Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.
