Qualifications

• Graduate from a Pathology Assistant program or Bachelor's degree with physiology/anatomy background.
• Certification by AAPA or ASCP as a Pathology Assistant, or must obtain certification within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all aspects of anatomic pathology under supervision by a pathologist.
• Describe and examine surgical specimens and prepare such specimens for histology processing.
• Perform autopsy prosection, obtain specimens for microscopic evaluation and describe findings.
• Assist in preparation, processing and adequacy determination of fine needle aspirates and renal biopsies.
• Participate in seminars and provide instruction for students on autopsy and surgical pathology techniques.

Education

Baccalaureate Pathology Assistant program or Bachelor's degree in sciences with physiology and anatomy
