Job summary

LanceSoft is seeking a Pathologists' Assistant in Georgia to perform specimen preparation, gross description and dissection under the direction of the pathologist(s). The role includes the performance of postmortem examinations as part of the clinical workflow.

Qualified candidates must have PA certification (ASCP) and demonstrate flexibility, accuracy, and the ability to work under pressure, with experience or familiarity with HIS/LIS and laboratory instrumentation preferred.

Qualifications

• PA ASCP certification is required; equivalent certifications not accepted.
• Independent judgement and initiative to schedule, organize, and plan work.
• Care and accuracy in collection and labeling of specimens.
• Flexibility for emergencies including longer or additional hours.
• Ability to work efficiently under stress for extended periods.
• Knowledge of HIS and LIS and laboratory instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, describe grossly and dissect surgical pathology specimens.

The Pathologists' Assistant is responsible for the preparation, gross description and dissection of surgical pathology specimens and the performance of postmortem examinations under the medical direction of the pathologist(s) while implementing the hospital and laboratory missions, goals and objectives.

Additional Requirements:

• Independent judgement and initiative required to schedule, organize, and plan work.
• Responsible for care and accuracy in collection and labeling specimens.
• Flexibility and adaptability in emergency situations including working additional hours or shifts.
• Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and alertly for extended periods of time, and under stress.
• Knowledge of HIS and LIS, assorted laboratory instrumentation appropriate to scope of position and dependent upon current technology.
