Job summary

Wilson Sonsini is seeking a Patent Prosecution Specialist to join our Patents and Innovation team. The role handles US patent prosecution filings, docketing, and client communications, reporting to attorneys and IP specialists.

The position supports a hybrid or fully remote schedule with standard 9-to-5 Pacific Time hours. Ideal candidates will manage complex filings, coordinate with IP staff, and stay current on CFR, MPEP, and patent-center processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate is preferred.
• 5+ years of prior experience in a U.S. Patent Prosecution or Legal Assistant role.
• Proficiency with U.S. and foreign patent office websites.
• Knowledge of CFR and MPEP rules.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage client portfolios for US patent prosecution including filings and docketing.
• Prepare, file, and report documents for patent applications (utility/design/provisional).
• Interact with clients, examiners, and staff to track status and deadlines.
• Maintain docket accuracy and provide timely reminders of due dates.
• Prepare amendments, responses, and related paperwork for USPTO actions.
• Coordinate with paralegals and attorneys to ensure timely actions.
